Today’s weather under yellow warning Cyprus remains under a yellow warning as storms affect the island today, Monday 8 December 2025. The weather will be mainly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. Hail is possible during thunderstorms, according to the Department of Meteorology.
A low-pressure system west of the island is moving south-eastwards, affecting the region.
Winds will blow mainly north-easterly to south-easterly, gradually becoming south-westerly in southern areas, light to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and temporarily strong along the coast, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be rough in western areas and up to rough along other coasts. Temperature will rise to around 18°C inland, around 19°C on the coast and around 8°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight and into Tuesday morning the weather will remain cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in coastal areas. Hail remains possible in thunderstorms. Light snow or sleet is not ruled out on the highest peaks of Troodos. Later and towards dawn, thin fog or fog may form locally, especially inland.
Winds will be mainly north-easterly to south-easterly, 3 to 4 Beaufort, and locally variable moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be generally slight to rough and temporarily rough. Temperature will fall to around 10°C inland, around 13°C on the coast and around 4°C in the higher mountains. Frost may form in wind-sheltered mountainous areas.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will remain mainly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. Temperature tomorrow will show little change, staying slightly below average for the season. A slight rise is expected on Wednesday, remaining close to average on Thursday.
