Police arrested a 50-year-old man Tuesday in connection with the arson attack on a three-story apartment building in Nicosia that broke out in the early hours of 25 November 2025.
The fire started around 05:30 a.m. in a ground-floor apartment and spread to the upper floors, completely destroying the lower level and damaging walls on the first and second stories.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze. A 20-year-old man found injured at the scene was rushed to Nicosia General Hospital and remains intubated in serious but stable condition.
Investigation details
Scene examination confirmed the fire was deliberately set. Further inquiries secured witness evidence against the 50-year-old, leading to a court arrest warrant.
Officers took the suspect into custody to facilitate the probe.
