Aliki autopsy: Severe head injury and ruptured spleen caused death

State pathologist Orthodoxos Orthodoxou’s post-mortem on 17-year-old Aliki Nikolaou confirmed the Kofinou crash victim died from a severe craniocerebral injury, multiple body traumas and a ruptured spleen.

The examination took place on Monday.

The five young people, including driver 22-year-old Georgios (no surname released), travelled in a double-cab entering the Limassol–Nicosia motorway near Kofinou around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

The vehicle veered off, hit a guardrail and overturned.

Firefighters freed Aliki from the wreckage. Paramedics rushed her to Larnaca General Hospital, where she died despite medical efforts.

The other three passengers – two 17-year-olds and another 22-year-old – received treatment and discharge. The driver, remanded three days, faces charges including causing death by negligence and drink-driving (37mg alcohol detected, refused final test).

Larnaca Traffic Police continue inquiries.
