70-year-old pedestrian dies after being struck by car

A 70-year-old man from Paphos, Christakis Vryonis, succumbed to his injuries Sunday evening after a car hit him on Agioi Anargyroi Avenue in Paphos.

The incident occurred around 17:00 when a 48-year-old driver struck the pedestrian under circumstances still under investigation.

Paramedics rushed Vryonis to Paphos General Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police arrested the 48-year-old driver on a court warrant and placed him in custody to assist inquiries.

Paphos Traffic Police continue the investigation.
