Students, university groups and organised bodies held events across free Cyprus on Friday as youth condemn pseudostate actions marking the 42nd anniversary of its illegal declaration in the island’s occupied areas.
At 10:30 a.m., the PSEM student federation organised a gathering at the Mia Milia checkpoint, where pupils participated in a symbolic protest against the 1983 unilateral declaration.

Later today, at 7 p.m., AKEL will hold its own event condemning the pseudostate at the Orfeas checkpoint in Nicosia. Participants will gather at 6:15 p.m. in the moat of the Famagusta Gate before marching to the event site.
The annual commemorations highlight the ongoing division of Cyprus and the continued demand for the withdrawal of Turkish occupation forces — a message echoed strongly in this year’s youth-led demonstrations.
