Trade unions and employers to decide on ATA negotiations today

Date:

A decisive day has arrived for the issue of the ATA negotiations in Cyprus, as trade unions and employer organisations meet separately to determine their stance on the proposed framework for the Automatic Cost-of-Living Allowance (ATA).

At 15:00, 13 trade union organisations will hold a joint meeting at the Journalists’ House, where they will be briefed on recent developments by the negotiating teams of SEK, PEO, DEOK and PASYDY. They will then decide whether to accept the current form of the agreement.

Meanwhile, at 16:00, the executive committees of employer organisations KEVE and OEB will meet jointly at the Union New Trust building in Nicosia.

On Sunday evening, the employer organisations met with President Nikos Christodoulides to discuss the framework established on Friday during a joint meeting with the Ministers of Finance and Labour and Social Insurance.

President Christodoulides said he had a “very productive” discussion with the heads of the employer organisations and expects their final decisions within the next 24 hours.

On Monday evening, the president also met with the trade unions. Sources close to the talks said there are clear indications that the conditions for an agreement are taking shape.
