Out-of-school youth entered Aglantzia Gymnasium to sell cigarettes to pupils

Date:

Outsiders entered the Platy Aglantzia Gymnasium on Monday (27/10) to sell cigarettes and other items to pupils.

Although initial reports from the school’s Parents’ Association president, Andreas Pierides, suggested a new attack, it later became clear that the outsiders had entered the school illegally to sell cigarettes and other objects to pupils.

Police forces rushed to the scene and arrested one of the four individuals involved.

Pierides noted that two or three groups are frequently seen in the area, often loitering outside the school at midday and harassing the children.

According to the Police, “earlier today, information was received about two young persons attempting to enter a school in Aglantzia. A police patrol immediately arrived at the scene and located the two individuals, who were then taken to the local police station. They are being dealt with under the relevant legislation concerning children in conflict with the law, as they are minors. From the investigations so far, these two individuals do not appear to be related to the incident that occurred at the same school last Saturday.”
