Subsidy for preschool tuition now available

The preschool tuition subsidy scheme in Cyprus is now open for applications, the Welfare Benefits Management Service of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare announced. Parents of children aged over four and up to the age limit for free compulsory preschool (4 years and 5 months) are eligible to apply.

Full coverage of tuition fees

The scheme, approved by the Council of Ministers on 26 March 2025 and funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan, fully covers tuition fees for the 07:45–13:05 timetable. Subsidies are capped at €130 per month for community kindergartens and €200 for private ones. No income criteria apply.

Eligibility and application process

All families legally residing in the Republic of Cyprus are eligible, provided the child is enrolled in a participating kindergarten. The subsidy is paid directly to the provider and applies for the full school year.

Applications must be submitted online via the government portal (www.gov.cy) or the Welfare Benefits Management Service website (www.wbas.dmsw.gov.cy). Parents applying by 29 September 2025 will benefit retroactively from 1 September. Later applications will apply from the month of submission.

Supporting families and children

The Deputy Ministry encouraged parents to take advantage of the measure, stressing that it “safeguards the rights and interests of children and families.”
