A new wildfire broke out on Monday morning (22 September) between the communities of Goudi and Chrysochou in the Paphos district, with the call received at 10:53am.
According to the Fire Service, fire trucks from Paphos district stations were dispatched to the scene, supported by the Forestry Department and the District Administration.
Four firefighting aircraft also assisted ground crews with water drops. The fire burned wild vegetation and dry grass over an area of about four hectares.
Earlier the same morning, at 10:36am, another fire broke out in the “Vatouthkia” area near the community of Koili. It was brought under control by 11:10am, after burning half a decare of wild vegetation and dry grass. Two fire trucks and a portable firefighting unit from rural Paphos stations were deployed.
A third fire erupted at 11:11am in Konia, Paphos, in a small pile of prunings and dry grass. That blaze was also quickly brought under control.
