A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Cyprus on charges of possessing child pornography and illegal drugs.
The Cyber Crime Investigation Branch (CCIB) at Police Headquarters received information via Europol that, in May 2025, a user uploaded 140 video and image files containing child sexual abuse material to an online platform.
Investigations revealed the account belonged to a 30-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday under a court warrant. A mobile phone was seized as evidence, and a preliminary check confirmed it contained two files of child sexual abuse material.
A search was then carried out at the suspect’s residence, where two laptops and a USB storage device were confiscated. During the operation, members of the Drug Law Enforcement Unit were also called to the scene after narcotics were found.
The 30-year-old was arrested for both possession of child pornography and possession of drugs.
The case is being investigated by the Cyber Crime Investigation Branch.
