Paralimni pedestrian accident leaves man in critical condition

A 23-year-old Swedish national is in critical condition after being hit by a car while walking in a hotel area in Paralimni late on Thursday night. The Paralimni pedestrian accident occurred around 23:45 on 11 September 2025.

According to Famagusta Police, a 41-year-old European citizen, permanent resident of Cyprus, was reversing his car to exit the hotel premises when he struck the young man, who was working as a tourist representative in Cyprus.

Transferred to Nicosia hospital

The driver himself transported the injured pedestrian to a private clinic in Paralimni before he was transferred to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was intubated.

Due to the seriousness of his condition, the 23-year-old was then transferred by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he remains hospitalised.

Doctors confirmed he sustained a liver laceration, friction burns, and multiple head injuries. His condition is described as serious.

Investigation underway

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Traffic Department.

The Paralimni pedestrian accident has raised concerns about road safety in hotel and tourist zones.
