Man arrested over political banner at APOEL football match

A man arrested over political banner at football match in Larnaca has been released after being charged in writing, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The 32-year-old Paphos resident was taken into custody on Monday afternoon based on a court warrant. The arrest relates to an incident during the FREEDOM24 KRASAVA ENY vs APOEL match on 24 August at Ammochostos Stadium, where a banner containing political and offensive content was displayed.

The man was questioned by officers and, following his written charge, was released pending further investigation.

The Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is continuing its enquiries into the case.
