Pafos FC stunned Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday night with a 2-1 away victory in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round.
The Cypriot champions got off to a dream start, taking the lead in the very first minute through Correia. The momentum continued into the second half, with Pepe converting a penalty in the 51st minute to double Pafos FC’s advantage.
Red Star pulled one back in the 58th minute via Duarte, but were unable to break through again, as Pafos FC held firm to secure a significant result in Belgrade.
The second leg will be played next Tuesday in Limassol, where Pafos FC will look to seal qualification to the Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history.
