EU organic awards to honour excellence in sustainable farming and food production, offering recognition to outstanding projects that contribute to the growth of organic agriculture across Europe, according to a press release from the European Commission.
The awards celebrate achievements throughout the organic supply chain, highlighting innovative, sustainable, and inspiring work that adds real value to organic production and consumption. The initiative aims to promote visibility and increase public awareness of the role organic farming plays in transitioning to greener food systems.
Awards will be presented in several categories, including:
- Best organic female farmer
- Best organic male farmer
- Best organic region or bioregion
- Best organic city
- Best organic small or medium-sized food processing enterprise
- Best organic food retail company
- Best organic restaurant or food service
The award ceremony will take place on EU Organic Day, held annually on 23 September. It will bring together representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, COPA-COGECA, and IFOAM Organics Europe.
These awards are part of the EU’s broader efforts to support and grow the organic sector, in line with the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity strategies under the European Green Deal.
