Fatal crash in Aglantzia: Why is the 24-year-old still not arrested?

Date:

Police spokesperson Kyriaki Lambrianidou spoke to RIK about the developments surrounding the fatal crash in Aglantzia.

When asked why the 24-year-old driver of the other vehicle has not yet been arrested, she did not confirm reports that he was speeding at 150 km/h, and explained that for an arrest to be made, there must be clear evidence. “That’s why we refrain from making statements — the investigation must be completed first. Yesterday, the scene was still being recorded for photogrammetry purposes. A reconstruction of the incident will also be carried out under real-time conditions.”

When asked about possible street racing, she declined to answer, stating: “We are currently dealing with the fatal collision, which may be related to all of this. We received a letter from the deputy mayor of Aglantzia, and we’ve already released some figures regarding complaints received, but I will leave it at that for now, as we need to complete the investigation into the fatal crash before engaging in any wider discussion about what’s come to light.”

She also asked for a few more days to allow the investigation into the fatal road accident to be concluded.
