Authorities investigating the Paleo Faliro case of a dead girl found on the beach have obtained new video evidence showing a woman with a stroller. The woman is believed to have abandoned the stroller in a park before leaving with two other children, and police are working urgently to identify her.
The preliminary investigation is being handled by the Hellenic Coast Guard, which is reviewing video footage in an effort to gather new evidence. They have obtained a clear image of the woman, who allegedly abandoned the stroller in a local park before leaving with two other children.
According to the footage, the clothing worn by the child in the stroller matches that of the girl later found on the beach. The woman in the video is first seen at a kiosk before disappearing from sight for roughly 3 to 3.5 hours.
In a second video, she is seen hurriedly stopping a taxi, entering with the two children, and leaving the stroller behind, now without a baby inside.
Authorities are working to identify the woman as a priority in solving the mystery of who the dead girl in Paleo Faliro is. Forensic experts at the Hellenic Police crime lab are using specialised software to further enhance the footage in hopes of tracking her down. Investigators are also searching for the taxi driver who picked her up in Paleo Faliro and drove towards Piraeus.
The Coast Guard is reviewing security cameras to determine the exact route she took. The investigation is complicated by the fact that the stroller she abandoned has disappeared, depriving authorities of potential evidence such as DNA or fingerprints.
