Escaped cows cause traffic chaos near Mosfiloti

Two escaped cows caused a traffic alert on the Limassol–Nicosia motorway this morning after the broke out of a transport lorry involved in a road accident near Mosfiloti.

According to police, the incident occurred when the lorry driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and overturned. Fortunately, the driver was not injured in the crash. However, the vehicle’s animal cargo- two cows- managed to break free and began wandering along the motorway in the direction of Nicosia.

Police officers were dispatched to the scene and are currently working to manage the situation and ensure public safety. Motorists in the area are being urged to exercise caution while driving, reduce speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and follow the directions of officers present.

The incident has prompted warnings about the unpredictable nature of livestock transport accidents, especially on high-speed roads.

The escaped cows continue to draw attention as authorities attempt to corral them without incident. No collisions or injuries have been reported as a result of the animals on the motorway.

The police continue to monitor the area, and traffic remains partially affected. Drivers are advised to remain alert.
