The temperature falls to 37°C today in Cyprus, offering slight relief after a string of scorching days. According to the Meteorological Department, although the weather will remain mostly clear, localised afternoon clouds may bring isolated showers, particularly in the mountains.
Winds will begin northeasterly to easterly at 3-4 Beaufort, with occasional gusts reaching 5 in windward areas. By the afternoon, they’ll shift to southeasterly to southwesterly. Seas will stay slightly rough throughout the day.
Daytime highs will reach 37°C inland, 32°C along the coast, and 27°C in higher elevations. The temperature falls to 37°C from previous highs near 40°C, but this cooling trend is expected to be temporary.
Tonight’s weather will be mostly clear. Winds will shift to northwesterly to northeasterly- and southeasterly on the north coast- remaining light at 3 Beaufort. Seas will be calm to slightly rough. Night-time temperatures will drop to 20°C inland, 22°C in coastal areas, and 17°C in the mountains.
From Tuesday to Thursday, mostly clear conditions are forecast. Temperatures will gradually rise again, reaching slightly above average by midweek.
