75-year-old cyclist succumbs to his injuries after crash

75-year-old Dimitris Mavris from Ormideia sadly succumbed to his injuries last night, following a road collision that occurred on 07/06/2025 in Ormideia.

Specifically, during a charity cycling race, a bicycle ridden by a 38-year-old man — as part of the event — under circumstances currently under investigation, struck the 75-year-old who was attempting to cross the road on foot.

The elderly man was initially taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where it was determined that he had suffered a brain haemorrhage. He was then transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment.

The Xylotymbou Police Station is investigating the circumstances of the collision.
