René Magritte is best known for his surreal masterpieces such as The Son of Man (1964), which distort reality and subvert expectations.
However, as showcased by an exhibition in Australia, the Belgian artist experimented with a variety of styles before painting his famous green apples.
Titled “Magritte,” this first retrospective exhibition in Australia for the artist includes over 100 works, including paintings and photographs, most of which have never been shown in the country before.
