The Cyprus Police have launched a week of awareness and enforcement, conducting road checks for truck and bus drivers from Monday to Sunday, 11-17 November 2024, as part of actions aimed at reducing road collisions and enhancing safety on the road network. This week of action will take place across Europe, with member countries of the European Traffic Police Network (Roadpol) participating, and the Cyprus Police actively contributing as a member of Roadpol.
The focus of Roadpol’s dedicated week of action will be raising awareness of the dangers arising from non-compliance with current legislation, as well as intensifying traffic checks on violations committed by truck and bus drivers.
The road checks will concentrate on key aspects, including the validity of drivers’ and vehicles’ documents, speed limiters and tachograph devices, adherence to driving and working hours by professional drivers, and the technical and mechanical suitability of trucks and buses. Checks will also target violations that are proven major factors in causing serious and fatal road collisions, such as speeding and mobile phone use while driving.
The Police are intensifying traffic checks on the road network to address traffic violations, while once again urging professional drivers to comply with legislation and traffic regulations.
