Weather changes ahead, rain and storms expected

Cloud cover is expected to increase today, with temperatures reaching around 30°C inland, 28°C along the southern and eastern coasts, 25°C on the western and northern coasts, and about 21°C in the mountainous areas.

Tuesday and Wednesday: Isolated showers and storms

On Tuesday and Wednesday, increased cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the mountainous regions, inland areas, and eastern parts of the island during the afternoon. Hail may also fall in some areas during thunderstorms.

Detailed weather forecast

A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region.

Today, mainly mid and high clouds are expected. Winds will be southwesterly to northwesterly, moderate to strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 5 to 6 Beaufort along windward coastal areas. The sea will be rough at times. Temperatures will rise to around 30°C inland, 28°C in the southern and eastern coastal areas, 25°C in the western and northern coastal areas, and 21°C in the higher mountains.

Tonight’s weather

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear. Winds will remain southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort inland, and moderate to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, along the coast. The sea will be slightly rough, locally becoming rough at times. Temperatures will drop to around 15°C inland, 17°C along the coast, and 9°C in the higher mountains.

Looking ahead: Tuesday to Thursday

  • Tuesday & Wednesday: Increased cloud cover is expected to bring isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially in mountainous areas, inland, and eastern parts of the island during the afternoon. Hail is possible during storms.
  • Thursday: Periods of localised increased cloud cover may bring isolated showers in the mountains during the afternoon.

Temperatures will slightly drop on Tuesday, remain steady on Wednesday, and rise slightly on Thursday, staying near or just below average for this time of year.
