Driver and toddler rescued after crash – Fire Brigade intervenes

Date:

A driver and a small child were rescued after their vehicle veered off the road and came to a stop in a nearby field on the morning of Holy Thursday.

According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the Fire Brigade was dispatched at 09:57 a.m. following reports of a road accident on the Klavdia–Tersefanou road in the Larnaca district.

The vehicle had left the road and become immobilised in a field. Firefighters used rescue tools to extricate the driver, who was secured on a spinal immobilisation board and handed over to ambulance personnel for first aid and transfer to the Emergency Department.

A young child, believed to be between 1 and 2 years old, had already been freed from the vehicle by passing civilians prior to the arrival of the Fire Service. The child was also assessed and transferred by ambulance crews.

Authorities have not released further information about the cause of the crash, and investigations are ongoing.
