Turkey’s Cabinet convenes on GSI – Erdoğan remains silent

Date:

Turkish media celebrates based on Greek reports of project delay, not official suspension

According to reports, the electricity interconnection project, which Ankara has opposed, was among the topics discussed yesterday during the meeting of Turkey’s Cabinet. It is specifically mentioned that decisions were expected regarding Turkey’s future strategic and diplomatic actions concerning the project.

Turkish media outlets celebrated not based on any concrete evidence of the project being suspended, but rather on certain publications in the Greek press suggesting a postponement of works.

Nevertheless, President Erdoğan avoided making any statement or comment on the issue. It is speculated that he may be awaiting Athens’ decisions before revealing Ankara’s intentions. He limited his remarks to the situation in Syria and Turkey’s stance, stressing that no one should interpret Turkey’s composure in the face of provocations as a sign of weakness.
