Cyprus National Council meeting in progress in Geneva (pics)

The National Council meeting, chaired by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, began at 12:10 in Geneva, ahead of the start of the Informal Meeting on the Cyprus issue in a broader format, which will commence with a dinner hosted on Monday evening by the UN Secretary-General for the delegations participating in the meeting.

The National Council includes former President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades, the leaders of the parliamentary parties: DISY’s Annita Demetriou, AKEL’s Stefanos Stefanou, DIKO’s Nikolas Papadopoulos, EDEK’s Marinos Sizopoulos, DIPA’s Marios Karoyian, and the First Vice President of the Movement of Ecologists – Citizens’ Cooperation, Kyriakos Tsimillis. Also participating are Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou, National Security Advisor Tasos Tzionis, and Attorney General Giorgos Savvidis.

Tonight, at 20:00 (Cyprus time), UN Secretary-General António Guterres will host a dinner for the delegations participating in the Informal Expanded Meeting.

On behalf of the Greek Cypriot side, President Nikos Christodoulides and negotiator Menelaos Menelaou will attend the dinner.

Following the dinner, the President of the Republic is expected to chair another meeting of the National Council.
