The Council of Ministers has decided to dismiss the entire Board of Directors of the English School following controversy over pressure exerted by some members on the Headmaster to admit a child who had not passed the entrance exams.
At the same time, the Cabinet authorised the Advisory Council to select new Board members, who are expected to be announced later today.
The decision was prompted by allegations from the Headmaster of the English School that he faced intense pressure from five Board members to admit the child of a Board member who had failed the entrance exams.
Four members of the Board had already submitted their resignations to the government. However, the Chairperson and four other members claimed they had been unfairly targeted, arguing that their rights and reputations had been violated. They accused the Headmaster of illegal actions and reserved the right to take legal action.
