Suspicious passenger arrested at Larnaca Airport

Date:

An alarm was raised early this afternoon at Larnaca Airport following an emergency landing of an aircraft.

Initial reports indicate that a Fly One aircraft made an emergency landing at Larnaca Airport due to information about a suspicious passenger linked to terrorism.

The suspect was arrested by officers of the Larnaca TAE.

As stated to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, “The aircraft, which was operating a service from Moldova to Larnaca Airport, was isolated in a designated area after landing. Members of the Police were deployed to the airport, and an investigation into the aircraft is expected to be carried out; we await the results of the investigation.”

Sources from Hermes confirmed to SigmaLive that the airport continues to operate normally.

It is noted that, at present, there is no evidence as to why the aircraft was isolated in a designated area at Larnaca Airport.
