Cyprus improves its score on the Corruption Perceptions Index

Date:

Cyprus improved its score on the Corruption Perceptions Index in 2024.

According to a press release by the Cyprus Integrity Forum, Transparency International announced today the results of the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2024. The Corruption Perceptions Index is an index that scores and ranks countries based on perceptions of levels of corruption in the public sector, as assessed by experts and businesspeople.

“There was a significant change for Cyprus, as it improved its score by 3 points, from 53 in 2023 to 56. At the same time, its ranking improved by 3 places. This is the second consecutive year that Cyprus has improved its position, as in 2023 it had improved by 1 point, from 52 to 53,” it notes.

It adds that based on this second  improvement in 2024, Cyprus is now ranked 46th out of 180 countries and is a small step away from entering the top quartile of the most transparent jurisdictions among these 180 countries.

The Cyprus Integrity Forum welcomes the continuous improvement of Cyprus over the last two years, noting that “this, is an indication of the effectiveness of the various anti-corruption measures that have been taken, as well as the increased public awareness of transparency issues”.
