The fourth vote for the election of the new President of the Republic is being held on Wednesday in the plenary session of the Parliament, in view of the end of the term of office of the current President, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, on March 13, 2025.

The roll call vote has been scheduled for 10.00 on Wednesday and a majority of 151 MPs is required, a number that has already been exceeded in previous votes by the former President of the Parliament, Constantine Tasoulas, nominated by New Democracy.
In the first and second votes, a two-thirds majority (200) was required, while in the third vote, a three-fifths majority (180) was required. In these votes, Tasoulas was voted for by 160 MPs, the PASOK candidate Tasos Giannitsis by 34 MPs, the SYRIZA-PA candidate Louka Katseli by 40 MPs, and the Niki candidate Kyriakou Kyriakou by 14 MPs. In the first vote, 297 MPs voted, 49 were registered as “present” and 3 as “absentees”, while in the second and third votes all 300 MPs voted, and 52 were registered as “present.”
After the announcement of the result, the President of the Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis will go to the office of Constantine Tasoulas to announce that he will be the next President of the Republic. Statements from Kaklamanis and Tasoulas will follow.
