Schools in the island’s mountainous regions remained closed today, Thursday, due to snowfall and frost, which affected the road network.
According to the Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, the following schools in secondary education remained closed today: Apeiteio Gymnasium in Agros and Mitsi Commercial School in Lemythou.
In primary education, the following nurseries were closed: Pano Platres, Moniatis, Agros, Kyperounta, Pelendri and Moutoullas, as well as the primary schools of Agros, Kyperounta and Pelendri.
Affected individuals can stay updated on the road network’s condition through the police’s morning bulletins.
Road conditions in mountainous areas
In its morning update, the police reported that specific roads in the mountainous regions of Limassol, Morphou, and Nicosia are only open to four-wheel drive vehicles or those equipped with snow chains.

- Papoutsas – Agros
- Papoutsas – Agios Theodoros
- Kato Mylos – Agros
- Zoopigi – Agios Theodoros
- Mandria – Platres
- Moniatis – Platres
- Saittas – Pera Pedi – Mandria
- Saittas – Amiantos
Morphou region
- Kalopanayiotis – Moutoullas
- Pedoulas – Prodromos
- Prodromos – Lemithou
- Kakopetria – Pinewood – Pedoulas
- Kakopetria – Karvounas
- Kykkos – Pedoulas – Tsakkistras
Nicosia region
- Palaichori – Agros
- Farmakas – Odou
- Aska – Fterikoudi
- Fterikoudi – Alona – Platanistasa
- Alona – Polystypos
- Polystypos – Lagoudera
- Lagoudera – Xyliatos
- Lagoudera – Chardria
The following roads are open but dangerously slippery due to snow and frost:
- Palaichori – Aska
- Palaichori – Farmakas
- Tsakkistra – Kampi
In the rest of the road network, including urban areas and motorways, no significant issues have been reported, despite the prevailing weather conditions across Cyprus.

The police urge all motorists to exercise caution while travelling, adhere to the traffic code, and follow road signs to avoid accidents.
