A 90-year-old pedestrian is in serious condition after being struck by a car in Larnaca on Thursday morning.
The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Papanicoli Avenue, when a vehicle driven by an 80-year-old man hit the elderly woman as she was attempting to cross the road. The exact circumstances of the collision remain under investigation.
The injured woman was rushed to Larnaca General Hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with a brain haemorrhage and cerebral contusion. She also sustained lacerations and fractures to her head and other parts of her body. She remains hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit, and her condition is described as serious.
The Traffic Department of Larnaca is investigating the incident to determine the precise cause of the collision.
