Searches for 75-year-old Erato Athanasiou remain without result, with authorities, organised groups and volunteers mobilised on a large scale in the Tsakistra area.
Speaking to SIGMA’s “Protoselido” programme, Tsakistra Community Council President Christodoulos Orfanidis said there had unfortunately been no new developments in the woman’s disappearance.
Police and other services were deployed in the area, while modern equipment, including helicopters and drones, was used in the search for the missing woman.
Searches cover 30 square kilometres
According to Orfanidis, search teams covered an area of approximately 30 square kilometres around Tsakistra, but no evidence leading to the 75-year-old had been found.
He said Athanasiou was accustomed to walking in the area every day.
The search operation has grown significantly, with Orfanidis noting that “the whole of Cyprus was mobilised” in the effort to locate her.
Family awaits news
The community leader expressed hope for a positive development and for the woman to be found, bringing an end to her family’s anguish.
“We hope to hear something, to hear good news,” he said.
Searches for the missing woman are continuing.
