At least 68 people lost their lives in the sinking of a vessel carrying migrants off the coast of Yemen, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) confirmed today to Agence France-Presse, adding that dozens more remain missing.
“At this stage, 68 individuals on board the vessel have died, but only 12 of the 157 passengers have been rescued. The fate of the missing remains unknown,” said Abdusattor Esoev, head of the IOM mission in Yemen.
An earlier death toll from security forces on Sunday had reported at least 27 fatalities.
