Israeli strikes kill 13 people in Gaza, including 5 children

Date:

Bloodiest day since ceasefire

At least 13 people, including 5 children, died Thursday from Israeli strikes across Gaza Strip, one of the deadliest days since October ceasefire. Gaza Civil Defense reported the toll, with spokesman Mahmoud Basal calling strikes “blatant ceasefire violation.”

Four people including three children killed when Israeli drone hit tent housing displaced persons in southern Gaza, Basal told AFP. Eleven-year-old girl died near Jabalia displacement camp in north. School strike killed one person. Drone attack claimed one man’s life in Khan Younis.

Two more Palestinians including child died in other Israeli army attacks. Four others killed in airstrike targeting eastern Gaza City house by evening.

IDF responds to rocket launch

Israeli military announced Friday morning it “precisely struck Hamas terrorists and infrastructure (…) in northern and southern Gaza Strip” responding to rocket launch from Gaza. “Rocket launch from Gaza Strip constitutes ceasefire violation,” statement added.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem told AFP strikes “confirm Israeli occupation abandons ceasefire commitment.”

Fragile truce faces daily incidents

October 10 ceasefire between Hamas and Israel remains fragile. Daily incidents occur as both sides mutually accuse ceasefire term violations. Humanitarian situation in Palestinian enclave stays critical.

Hamas Health Ministry reported 21 killed November 22 from Israeli strikes. Total 425 Palestinians killed since ceasefire activation, same source noted. Israeli military announced three soldiers killed.

AFP cannot independently verify information announced by both sides due to Israeli restrictions limiting Gaza journalist access.
