64-year-old woman loses €34,600 in scam over fake €3.46 delivery fee

Date:

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with an online fraud case involving the theft of €34,600 from a 64-year-old woman’s bank account.

The investigation began after the woman, a Limassol resident, reported the incident to police in February.

According to her complaint, she received a text message on February 1, 2026, which appeared to have been sent by a private courier company.

She opened a link contained in the message and attempted to pay a €3.46 delivery fee. She then discovered that unknown individuals had withdrawn €34,600 from her account.

23-year-old arrested

Investigations by members of the Cybercrime Subdivision secured evidence against the 23-year-old, who was arrested yesterday morning under a court warrant.

He was taken into custody to facilitate the investigation.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court this morning for proceedings concerning his remand.

The case is being investigated by the Major Crime Investigation Department of the Limassol CID.
