31-year-old abducted and assaulted by nine men in Larnaca

Date:

The Larnaca CID is investigating the assault of a 31-year-old man from Nigeria.

According to police, at around 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, 1 January, information was received by the Larnaca Police Directorate regarding an injured person outside a taxi office.

An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the injured man to Larnaca General Hospital before the police arrived.

Officers from the Larnaca Police Directorate went to the hospital, where they located the injured man, a 31-year-old Nigerian. He had sustained a transverse laceration at the base of his little finger and a six-centimetre laceration on his hand.

Doctors at the hospital stitched the wound, placed a splint on the injured left finger, and discharged the man after treatment.

The injured man told police that at around 6:45 p.m., while he was in an abandoned apartment in Oroklini where he occasionally stayed with his partner, nine compatriots, whose identities he does not know, entered the apartment. They assaulted him in various parts of his body and injured him with a sharp object.

He further stated that the attackers forcibly transported him and put him into one of two vehicles they had and drove towards Larnaca.

At some point during the journey, he managed to escape and ran to a taxi office to seek help.

The Larnaca CID continues its investigations.
