A 23-year-old man has been arrested at Paphos Airport for attempting to import a large quantity of cannabis into Cyprus, according to a statement from the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).
The arrest took place around 9:30 p.m. during a routine inspection in collaboration with Customs Authorities, as the suspect arrived on a flight from a European country.
During a search of his luggage, officers discovered two vacuum-sealed nylon packages containing a total of 16.776 kilograms of cannabis.
The suspect was initially arrested on flagrante delicto charges and later re-arrested under a court warrant. He is currently in custody to assist with the ongoing investigation.
