Members of the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) have arrested a 21-year-old man in the Famagusta district on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs with intent to supply.
According to a police statement, the arrest followed an assessment of information that led officers to observe the suspect approaching an open area in Paralimni by motorcycle and collecting items left on the ground.
Police intervention in Paralimni
Police officers intercepted the 21-year-old for a search shortly after the incident.
During a search of the area where the suspect had been seen, officers reportedly discovered and seized a precision scale, a transparent plastic container containing pieces of cocaine, and two nylon bags holding additional quantities of cocaine, with a total gross weight of 11 grams.
Drugs, cash and phones seized
Further searches of the suspect’s motorcycle led to additional findings.
Police said they located a shoulder bag containing a nylon bag with two grams of cannabis, €3,960 in various banknotes, and two mobile phones.
Ongoing investigation
The case is being investigated by the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), Famagusta branch, while the suspect remains in custody in connection with the alleged offences.
