12-year-old girl reports abduction and assault attempt in Paphos

A report by a 12-year-old student is under investigation by Police Headquarters, following her claims of kidnapping, attempted rape, and sexual abuse by an unknown man.

According to Sigma correspondent Marios Ignatiou, the girl allegedly stated that earlier this morning, an unidentified man- described as being of Syrian origin- approached her upon her arrival at school, coerced her into his car, and drove her to a coastal area in Paphos.

Her father filed a report with the police, claiming that his daughter had been a victim of kidnapping, sexual abuse and attempted rape.

The investigation has been assigned to officers from the Sub-Directorate for the Protection of Vulnerable Persons, under the Police Directorate for Investigating Sexual Abuse of Minors.
