The Department of Meteorology has issued a Yellow warning for Monday, with temperatures in inland areas expected to reach around 40°C.
The yellow warning will be in effect from 2pm until 5pm, as hot weather continues to affect Cyprus.
Sunny and hot conditions
Seasonal low pressure continues to influence the region, bringing mainly clear skies across the island.
Winds will initially be light and variable at around 3 Beaufort before gradually becoming southwesterly to northwesterly at 3 to 4 Beaufort. Along the southern coast, winds may briefly strengthen to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slightly rough.
Maximum temperatures will reach:
- 40°C inland
- 31°C on the west coast
- Around 34°C along the remaining coastal areas
- 30°C in the higher mountains
Clear nights and stable outlook
Tonight will remain mostly clear, although areas of low cloud may develop locally. Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, while along the northern coast they will become southeasterly at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Overnight temperatures are expected to fall to:
- 21°C inland
- Around 23°C along the coast
- 18°C in the higher mountains
Little change through Thursday
Tuesday will remain mostly clear, while periods of increased cloud are expected on Wednesday and Thursday.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly over the next three days and will remain slightly above the seasonal average.
