Woman arrested on Saturday to face “military court” in occupied areas

A 45-year-old woman detained at the Agios Dometios checkpoint is expected to appear before a so-called “military court” in occupied Nicosia on Thursday, according to confirmed information from the Cyprus News Agency (CNA).

The woman was arrested on Saturday at the Turkish Cypriot checkpoint and remains in custody at a so-called “police station” in occupied Nicosia pending her appearance before the court.

Arrest at Agios Dometios

The woman’s husband reported her arrest to the Agios Dometios Police Station on Saturday.

According to his complaint, the 45-year-old was detained by the occupation authorities while leaving the Agios Dometios checkpoint.

Her arrest reportedly relates to an incident on Friday, when she left the occupied areas without undergoing an identity check.

The woman is expected to remain in custody until her appearance before the so-called “military court” on Thursday.
