Mixed conditions with local showers
A weak low-pressure system is affecting the area, while a colder air mass is expected to move in by Sunday, bringing a noticeable Cyprus weather change.
Today, conditions will be mostly clear, though there will initially be locally increased low cloud or patchy fog. During the afternoon, cloud build-up is expected, which may lead to isolated showers, with a chance of thunderstorms, mainly in mountainous areas.
Winds will start variable and light at around 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming southwesterly to northwesterly and moderate at 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to a little rough.
Temperatures will rise to around 29°C inland, 23°C on the west coast, near 25°C in other coastal areas, and 18°C in higher mountainous regions.
Cooler night with fog and low cloud
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, with increased low cloud or patchy fog in some areas.
Winds will be northwesterly to northeasterly, and locally southeasterly along northern coasts, remaining light at 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will drop to 12°C inland, around 14°C on the coast, and 8°C in higher mountainous areas.
Weekend brings rain and temperature drop
On Friday, the weather will stay mostly clear, though afternoon cloud may again bring isolated showers, mainly in the mountains. Thin dust may also be present in the atmosphere. Temperatures will remain slightly above seasonal averages.
By Saturday, conditions will gradually turn mostly cloudy, with intervals of light local rain. During the night, isolated thunderstorms are possible, particularly in western and mountainous regions. A slight temperature drop is expected.
On Sunday, the Cyprus weather change becomes more pronounced, with mostly cloudy skies, local showers and isolated thunderstorms. Temperatures are set to drop noticeably across the island.
