Unsettled conditions today
Unsettled weather conditions are affecting Cyprus today, with weak low pressure influencing the region, while weak high pressure is expected to gradually take hold from Sunday.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will be mostly clear at times, but intervals of increased cloud cover are expected. Isolated showers may occur early in the day, mainly in western and northern areas.
Winds will blow mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually strengthening to 4 to 5 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to rough.
Temperatures will reach around 21°C inland and along the coast, and 12°C in the higher mountains.
Cloudy skies and possible showers tonight
Tonight, locally increased cloud cover is expected, particularly in the west, where isolated rain is possible.
Winds will remain southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, and at times up to strong, 4 to 5 Beaufort, mainly along the coast. The sea will remain slight to rough.
Temperatures will drop to around 8°C inland, 13°C on the coast, and 4°C in the higher mountains.
Easter weekend outlook improves
On Holy Saturday, the weather will be partly to mostly cloudy at times.
On Easter Sunday, conditions will be mostly clear, although developing clouds in the afternoon may bring isolated showers, mainly in mountainous areas.
Easter Monday is expected to be mostly clear, with some locally increased cloud cover developing later in the day.
Gradual rise in temperature
Temperatures are expected to gradually increase through Monday, returning to levels close to seasonal averages.
