Cyprus weather will remain mainly cloudy today, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected at intervals, according to the Meteorological Service.
Winds will blow mainly south to south-westerly, moderate to strong and at times locally strong to very strong, at 5 to 6 Beaufort. Temperatures will rise to around 20°C inland and along the coast, and about 8°C in the higher mountains.
A weak low-pressure system is affecting the region, while dust will remain suspended in the atmosphere until Friday evening.
The sea will initially be slight to rough, becoming gradually rough during the day.
Tonight’s outlook
Tonight, the weather will turn partly cloudy, with isolated showers expected at first. An isolated thunderstorm cannot be ruled out, mainly along the west and south-west coasts.
Winds will remain mainly south to south-westerly, moderate and locally strong, at 4 to 5 Beaufort. Temperatures will drop to around 10°C inland, about 15°C along the coast and 6°C in the higher mountains, while the sea will remain slight to rough.
Weekend forecast
On Friday, Cyprus weather will stay mainly cloudy, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms. Snow or sleet may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.
Saturday will be partly cloudy, with isolated showers and a chance of an isolated storm, before conditions gradually turn mainly clear late in the afternoon.
On Sunday, the weather will be mostly clear, although locally increased low cloud will appear at times.
Temperatures on Friday will show no significant change. Over the weekend, they will edge slightly higher and remain above seasonal averages.
