The Ministry of Interior has announced that the final deadline for submitting applications to be included in the electoral register for the 2026 parliamentary elections is 2 April 2026. Citizens are urged, particularly first-time voters, to submit their applications in good time.
The parliamentary elections will be held on 24 May 2026.
Who has the right to vote
According to the Ministry of Interior, the right to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections is granted to all citizens of the Republic who:
- are 18 years old or over, and
- have had their usual residence in Cyprus for at least the past six months.
In addition, the right to register on the electoral roll also applies to young people who will turn 18 years old by election day, provided their application is submitted during the final three-month revision period of the electoral register.
Registration period for young voters
The final revision period runs from 3 January 2026 to 2 April 2026. During this time, eligible young voters who reach voting age by election day may submit their registration applications.
The Ministry also notes that Turkish Cypriots holding an identity card of the Republic of Cyprus and residing in the free areas are also entitled to register.
How to apply
For citizens up to 25 years of age, applications may be submitted electronically via the official elections website at elections.gov.cy.
Printed application forms can be submitted at:
- District Administration Offices
- Citizen Service Centres (KEP)
- Citizen Centres (KE.PO.) at Cyprus Post offices
Application forms are also available directly from the Ministry of Interior and through the official elections website.
The Ministry reiterates the importance of timely registration to ensure the right to vote can be exercised in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
