Police officers from Limassol CID arrested a 40-year-old man on Saturday morning in connection with an investigation into offences including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, carrying a knife and related offences, following a violent incident that occurred shortly after midnight in Limassol.
According to police, a report was received around 12:30 a.m. regarding the admission of an injured man to Limassol General Hospital. Investigations established that the victim, a 45-year-old man, had sustained a wound to the shoulder blade area, believed to have been caused by a sharp object. His condition is described as serious.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 45-year-old received a phone call from the suspect during the night, asking him to come to his residence to resolve personal differences. When the victim arrived at the property accompanied by two relatives, the 40-year-old allegedly attacked him using pepper spray and a knife, causing serious injuries.
The victim was rushed to Limassol General Hospital, where he underwent surgery. He remains hospitalised in the Surgical Department in a serious condition.
The suspect was arrested during the morning hours. Police said that prior to his arrest, the 40-year-old had been taken to a private hospital for treatment of a head injury. After receiving medical care, he was discharged and subsequently taken into custody.
Limassol CID is continuing its investigation into the case.
