Verbal abuse against Mourtzoukou inside Korydallos prison

Date:

25-year-old Eirine Mourtzoukou, accused of killing her child, has reportedly been verbally abused by fellow inmates at Korydallos Prison, according to statements by police analyst Stavros Balaskas on SKAI TV.

Balaskas clarified that while Mourtzoukou is under strict protection and not at physical risk, she has faced insults and hostility, as expected in such high-profile cases. “She’s been cursed at- to put it plainly, she’s been verbally assaulted,” he said. “There is no room for physical attacks due to the high security around her.”

He noted that Mourtzoukou is held alone in the same wing as Roula Pispirigou, another woman accused of infanticide, and that she has requested to be transferred to a psychiatric facility, a request she previously outlined in her official statement to investigators.

Balaskas also pointed to the unofficial prison code that often places inmates accused of harming children at risk, which is why Mourtzoukou remains under constant surveillance.
