Vafeades-Raouna updated on renovation works in Nicosia

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Alexis Vafeades and the Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna had the opportunity to be updated about the progress of the renovation works of the “Filoxenia” Conference Centre and the Higher Hotel Institute of Cyprus building during their visit to the two venues on Monday.

According to a post by the Ministry of Transport on X, the purpose of the visit was to oversee the progress of works and assess their implementation according to the timetables set in view of Cyprus assuming the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026.

As stated, the “Filoxenia” Conference Centre is being renovated in order to host the sessions of the Informal Ministerial Councils of the Cyprus Presidency, while the HHIC building is also being renovated, as it is intended to function as a Press Centre, serving the needs of journalists and media.

“The interventions aim to create modern and functional infrastructure that will meet the requirements of the Cyprus EU Presidency. The cooperation of all stakeholders remains crucial for the successful completion of these important projects,” the Ministry concludes.
