US-Israel strikes Iran hit key bridges, killing two

Date:

Second bridge targeted south of Tehran

US-Israel strikes on Iran continued today, hitting a second bridge south of Tehran, killing two and injuring three, according to the official Irna news agency, citing a local official.

Akbar Salehi, deputy governor of Isfahan province, said: “A few minutes ago, the US-Zionist attacking enemy fired on the Yahya Abad railway bridge in Kashan. In this attack, two people became martyrs, and three were injured.”

Earlier, another bridge near Qom, also south of Tehran, was targeted.

Rail services halted in northeastern Iran

Iranian authorities suspended railway services to and from Mashhad, the country’s second-largest city in the northeast, following warnings from the Israeli military. Earlier today, the Israeli army had advised Iranians not to travel by train until 08:30 Cyprus time.

Wide-scale infrastructure strikes by Israel

The Israeli military announced it carried out a new series of wide-scale strikes targeting specific infrastructure. “The Israeli army has just completed an extensive series of strikes targeting dozens of infrastructure facilities belonging to the Iranian terrorist regime across multiple regions in Iran,” the statement said.

Tensions escalate ahead of US deadline

Tehran suffered the strikes hours before US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum, threatening to destroy critical Iranian infrastructure unless a deal is reached to reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz, vital for global oil supply.

On the 39th day of the US-Israel campaign, which has caused thousands of deaths across the Middle East, mainly in Iran and Lebanon, where the allied group Hezbollah operates, Iranians remain divided between fear and relative indifference to Trump’s warnings.

On Monday, Trump warned that “the entire country could be destroyed overnight,” stating he is ready to strike energy facilities and Iranian ports if Tehran does not lift the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, through which about 20% of global oil previously flowed.
