US Ambassador welcomes progress on trust-building in Cyprus

The United States has welcomed the recent developments regarding the Cyprus issue, following the informal meeting on Cyprus in a broader format in Geneva.

In a post on “X”, US Ambassador to Cyprus Julie S. Davis highlighted the positive atmosphere of the discussions, stating that the US welcomes the constructive tone cited by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.

“The broader format meetings in Geneva today reflect good news on initiatives to build trust in Cyprus. US welcomes the constructive atmosphere cited by UN Secretary General @antonioguterres which paves the way for concrete next steps”, says the post.

The informal meeting in Geneva, convened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres on March 17–18, aims to facilitate an exchange of views between the President of Cyprus and the Turkish Cypriot leader on ways to achieve progress on the Cyprus issue. Representatives from Greece, Turkey, and the United Kingdom are also attending the meeting.
